BALANGA CITY—The old provincial capitol here has been converted into an extension of the Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) to accommodate non-coronavirus patients.
Bataan Gov. Albert Garcia, who led the blessing of the facility on Tuesday (June 16), said the hospital annex is equipped with 50 beds, a delivery room, a medical ward, neonatal ICU, OB-Gyne, an operating room, a pedia ward and a surgical ward.
With the hospital annex, COVID-19 patients will be treated exclusively at the BGHMC that also houses a polymerase chain reaction or PCR laboratory for coronavirus tests.
The old capitol has been empty since government departments and offices were transferred to the adjacent Bunker building.
The province, which shifted to general community quarantine (GCQ) on June 16, has recorded 166 COVID-19 cases with 141 recoveries and 10 fatalities.
