34.9 degree Celsius highest temperature in Batanes in 10 yrs

ITBAYAT, BATANES — The air temperature here reached 34.9 degree Celsius on Tuesday (June 16) afternoon, one of the highest in this northernmost island town in the last 10 years.

Alexander Antas, head of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) station here, said the maximum temperature was recorded at 2 p.m.

The heat initially peaked at 34 °C on May 31 and was followed by a series of high temperatures reaching over 33 °C until June 8, Antas said.

But winds and cloudbursts brought down the temperature to 28 °C between June 12 and June 14, records from Pagasa showed.
