MANILA, Philippines — The government has allowed lawyers representing their clients in areas under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) to travel, Malacañang said Tuesday.
“Naamendahan din po ang Omnibus Guidelines para ang transit ng mga abugado na magbigay ng legal representation sa mga taong inaresto sa panahon ng ECQ,” Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said in an online briefing.
(The Omnibus Guidelines has been amended to allow lawyers’ transit to give legal representation to persons arrested in areas under ECQ.)
“Sa mga abugado po dyan sa Talisay at Cebu, bagamat stay at home po ang lahat, puwede po ninyo puntahan ang mga kliyente na may problema po sa alagad ng batas,” he added.
(Lawyers in Talisay and Cebu, though everyone is encouraged to stay at home, you may go to your clients who have problems with the law.)
Cebu City has just been placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) again while Talisay City was declared under modified ECQ – both until June 30.
According to the Omnibus Guidelines of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF-EID), persons allowed to transit in ECQ areas are workers of essential establishments like hospitals, supermarkets, and banks.
