Pro-Corona court workers in CDO don black and purple
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines—Court employees here wore black shirts, purple ribbons and armbands to show their support for Chief Justice Renato Corona, whose impeachment trial kicks off at the Senate on Monday.
Lawyer Jerlie Requierme, the clerk of court, said it was not necessary to declare a court holiday as employees “can give our support with prayers for peaceful and non-obtrusive means.”
“We will continue our service to the people and conduct regular transactions,” she said.
On Monday morning, a prayer was offered for Corona, following the Monday flag-raising ceremony. Requierme said there will also be daily ecumenical prayers at 3 p.m. until the conclusion of the trial.
