MANILA, Philippines — Authorities have a ‘good lead’ on the suspect preying on unsuspecting women dentists, a police official told INQUIRER.net.
“We have a good lead and the NCRPO [National Capital Region Police
Office] is coordinating with other units of the national police,” NCRPO director Chief Superintendent Alan Purisima said.
Purisima declined to provide details on the ongoing investigation, saying that the NCRPO is being cautious in their approach to the cases.
“We want to catch the person behind these cases. Most of the details will remain confidential until we have caught him,” he said.
The suspect, who posed as a patient in order to carry out his crime was most likely a sex maniac, Purisima said.
“We know for a fact that the suspect is a sex maniac as his primary goal is sexual satisfaction. He steals from his victims but that is not his main goal,” Purisima said.
“He may also be mentally ill. Why else would he rape his victims after robbing them? We think robbery came in second in his priorities.”
NCRPO spokesman Senior Superintendent Dionardo Carlos said that their investigators were “working to solve the emerging modus operandi.”
The NCRPO was also looking into the possibility that the suspect in the five cases they have monitored was the same man. The dentists were reportedly molested and their offices burglarized, Purisima said.
But there may still be more cases that have not been reported to the authorities, said the NCRPO chief.
“We have a very good case but we need more information. We are urging
everyone who may have fallen victim to this crime to contact the police. We need their help to catch this person,” said Purisima.
He assured the victims that the police were investigating these incidents.
The Manila Police District has released a sketch of the suspect, described to be a dark, medium built man in his 30’s. He was said to be roughly 5’6″ in height.
