LUCENA CITY –– The Lucena City Public Information Office, citing the latest information from the local Inter-Agency Task Force, reported on its Facebook that the city registered the recovery of 23 local coronavirus patients Thursday night.
Mayor Roderick Alcala reported that 14 of the latest group of recovered patients, who were recorded in a single day, are local government employees.
He said authorities will engage massive disinfection of city hall building and premises from Friday to Sunday (June 12 to June 14).
The huge number of healed patients in a single day in a locality was the first recorded incident in COVID-19 monitoring in the province, based on the past daily bulletins of the Quezon Public Information Office.
Lucena logged a total of 62 validated COVID-19 cases since the pandemic broke out.
As of Thursday, however, a total of 52 patients have been listed as “recovered and cleared”, bringing the number of remaining local active virus carriers to 10.
There’s no COVID-19 death yet in this city.
On May 20, the last of 29 COVID-19 patients recorded in this city since the pandemic broke out had recovered that made the city “zero-COVID-19 case” locality. But since May 23, new COVID-19 cases in this city have been piling up.
On June 9, a group of 13 coronavirus carriers was logged in this city. It was recorded as the highest number of “positive” patients in a locality in a single day in Quezon.
