Corona enters not guilty plea

MANILA, Philippines – Chief Justice Renato Corona has entered a plea of not guilty on all the charges contained in the Articles of Impeachment that were filed against him.

Corona made the manifestation on Monday through his lead counsel, former Supreme Court Justice Serafin Cuevas.

“We are making of record your Honor that we made him appear in order to show our respect and his respect to this honorable body and to show to the entire world that he’s not concealing anything. He’s prepared to entered his defense and convince the honorable body that he’s entitled to an acquittal on the charges against him,” Cuevas said when he entered his appearance before the Senate.

“In addition, may we also put on record that he’s entering a plea of not guilty to all the charges embodied in the complaint for impeachment your Honor,” Cuevas added.
