Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III reminded employers that employees who work during the regular holiday are entitled to 200 percent of their regular daily salary for the first eight hours of work while those who did not work shall still be paid 100 percent of their wages for that day.
For overtime work or work done in excess of eight hours, an employee shall be paid an additional 30 percent of their hourly rate, said DOLE.
Further, if employees work on a regular holiday that also falls on their rest day, they shall be paid an additional 30 percent of their basic wage of 200 percent.
For overtime work on a regular holiday that also falls on a rest day, an employee shall be paid an additional 30 percent of his or her hourly rate on the said day.
DOLE, however, allows some companies to defer payment of the holiday pay until the national health emergency has been addressed and normal business operations resume.
Establishments that have closed or ceased operations during the community quarantine period are exempted from the payment of the holiday pay under the Labor Advisory No. 20, series of 2020, said DOLE.
