5 new COVID-19 patients in Ormoc all arrived from Cebu City

ORMOC CITY—The five new cases of COVID-19 here were those of people who had spent a long time being stranded in Cebu City.

Sentinel Nurse Elsie Jaca, the official spokesperson of the city’s COVID-19 task force, said the five new patients were among those in the first batch of Ormocanon who returned to the city last May 30 onboard a ship from Cebu City.

Jaca said these persons had been tested in Cebu and were found negative.

On Sunday (June 7), the returning residents were tested anew. Two days later, at least five were positive for coronavirus.

The five new COVID-19 cases in the city included those of three senior citizens aged 76, 72, 60 while the two others are 23 and 24 years old.

They were all without symptoms and were all admitted at the Ligtas COVID Quarantine Facility at the village of Dolores.

As of June 10, there are six COVID-19 cases in Ormoc.
