MANILA, Philippines — A policeman may be charged after he shot dead a dog which allegedly bit him in Sampaloc, Manila.

The Manila Police District (MPD) Station 4 identified the lawman as Patrolman Lyndon de Ocampo of the Aviation Security Group.

The dog owner, Rene Timbol, said he heard a gunshot outside his house on G. Tuazon Street, Barangay 422 Zone 43 on Friday night.

When he stepped out, he saw his dog’s bloodied body on the ground and a spent shell casing.

When Timbol confronted the suspect and asked him why he shot the dog, De Ocampo complained that he was bitten by the animal.

Both parties reported the incident to barangay officials who failed to settle the dispute. Timbol then asked for police assistance.
