78 residents in 2 Parañaque streets test positive for coronavirus
MANILA, Philippines — Some 78 residents in two streets of Barangay San Dionisio in Parañaque City that was placed under a calibrated coronavirus lockdown, have contracted COVID-19, the local government reported Tuesday.
City Health Officer Dr. Darius Sebastian said 78 out of 1,689 residents of Tramo I and Tramo II were found positive for the new coronavirus after conducting rapid tests in the area.
The 78 residents also underwent confirmatory tests or the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction for COVID-19, Sebastian said. For now, infected residents are under home quarantine.
Sebastian said if some residents turn positive after undertaking swab tests, they will be transferred to an isolation facility within Parañaque City.
To recall, the city government placed Tramo I and Tramo II under calibrated lockdown from June 4 to June 6 after the area posted the highest cases of coronavirus infections in the locality.
As of Tuesday, the city health department recorded 789 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 512 recoveries and 49 deaths.
