Palace: Duterte meeting with IATF in Davao set Thursday

MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte will meet with members of the Inter-Agency Task Force for Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) in Davao City on Thursday anew, Malacañang said Tuesday.

“I can confirm that the next meeting with the President on Thursday will be in Davao,” Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said in an online briefing.

Last week, the President also met with IATF members in Davao City.

The IATF is expected to come up with recommendations to Duterte on whether to extend, lift or modify the various lockdown measures imposed nationwide.

From June 1 to June 15, the areas of Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Pangasinan, Albay, Western Visayas, Cebu City, Mandaue City, and Davao City have been under general community quarantine (GCQ).

The rest of the country, meanwhile, is under modified GCQ, the lowest form of community quarantine enforced by the government.

There are so far 22,474 confirmed COVID-19 cases nationwide with 1,011 deaths and 4,637 deaths.
