The transportation department said they are requiring the use of face masks for drivers and passengers. Bus terminals and buses must also be disinfected for each trip.
P2P buses must accommodate only 50 percent passenger capacity to allow physical distancing inside the vehicle.
The transportation department said P2P buses are also equipped with an automatic fare collection system for cashless payments, Global National Satellite Systems for monitoring of movement, and radio-frequency identification tag, among others.
DOTr allowed trains, bus augmentation, taxis, transport network vehicle services, shuttle services, P2P buses, and bicycles to operate but with limited capacity from June 1 to June 21.
Meanwhile, the transportation department will add more bus routes on its second phase from June 22 to June 30 as commuters will increase during the implementation of the “new normal.”
