Argument for total lockdown: No respite in Quezon COVID-19 cases as 5 more infected

LUCENA CITY—The province of Quezon is getting no respite from new coronavirus infections as five more are found sick of COVID-19—four in Catanauan town and one in this city.

In a report released at 5 p.m. on Monday (June 8), the Quezon public information office (QPIO) said the province now has 113 COVID-19 cases.

But provincial officials are deducting from the tally 77 patients who recovered and nine who already died. This would bring the total to 27.

Catanauan logged a total of six COVID-19 cases, a spike from its previous record of two.

Lucena has recorded a total of 48 COVID-19 cases, the highest in the province.

But at least 32 of the 48 patients in Lucena have recovered, bringing the number of cases to 16, according to the QPIO report.

Local health authorities are monitoring 143 individuals classified as “suspects” coronavirus carriers and eight “probable” patients on its list as of June 6.

The city has no COVID-19 death yet.
