4 more OFWs at Western Visayas quarantine facilities tested positive for COVID-19

BACOLOD CITY – Four more repatriated overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) housed in quarantine facilities in Western Visayas tested positive for the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

One of them was a 37-year-old male seafarer who arrived in Manila from Miami, Florida on April 16.

The patient arrived in Bacolod City on board a 2Go vessel last May 20. He was placed in a quarantine facility while a swab specimen was taken from him on May 26.

The test result released Saturday showed that he was positive for COVID -19.

The patient is asymptomatic, the Bacolod City Health Office said.

He was the seventh OFW who returned to Bacolod City and tested positive for COVID-19.

The three other OFWs who tested positive for COVID-19 during the weekend were a 35-year-old male from Balasan, Iloilo; a 40-year-old male from San Joaquin, Iloilo; and a 28-year-old male from Lezo, Aklan, the Department of Health reported.

As of June 8, Western Visayas has 125 COVID-19 cases – 26 active, 88 has recovered and 11 died.
