LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — Seven more Pangasinenses tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), local health officials said on Sunday.
Latest data from the provincial health office (PHO) showed that two of the new COVID-19 cases are from Agno town. These are a 53-year-old jail officer and a 54-year-old ambulance driver.
The third positive case is a 37-year-old bodyguard from Tagudin village in Mabini town.
The three cases are asymptomatic but underwent the targeted mass testing (RT-PCR) conducted by PHO on Wednesday.
In Sual town, four new cases were reported as a result of the local government’s “Test, Trace, and Treat” program.
In a statement, the Sual government said the latest cases are medical front-liners and returning residents who were subjected to PCR tests being undertaken by the town and the Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center.
Sual Mayor Liseldo Calugay said the targeted mass testing will continue to identify those who are infected and prevent the virus transmission.
He said remedial measures are in place, such as the isolation of the affected residents, food assistance, appropriate medical attention, and disinfection of their houses.
To date, 67 COVID-19 cases have been recorded in the province.
