Pa dead, 2 kids hurt in Quezon shooting

LUCENA CITY –– A man was killed and his two children seriously wounded after two unidentified gunmen shot them while having dinner in Tiaong town in Quezon province on Friday, police said Saturday.

Lieutenant Colonel Dennis de Leon, Tiaong police chief, reported that Ruel Barcelona, 38, and his children, a 16-year-old girl and one-year-old boy, were taking supper inside their nipa hut in Barangay Cabatang when two gunmen armed with caliber .45 pistol barged in and repeatedly shot the father at 8:45 p.m.

Barcelona suffered fatal wounds and died on the spot.

The report said stray bullets grazed the forehead of his daughter, while the boy was hit on his left thigh. The siblings were taken to Peter Paul Hospital at the town center.

An investigation is ongoing.
