NBI agents find 100 Chinese nationals getting coronavirus tests at unlicensed Las Piñas clinic

National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agents on Friday (June 5) saw up close the operations of a COVID-19 clinic conducting coronavirus tests for at least 100 Chinese nationals in Las Piñas City.

Cesar Bacani, NBI National Capital Region (NCR) chief, said agents were conducting surveillance on the clinic, acting on information given by concerned citizens.

But when the agents arrived in the area, Bacani said they saw at least 100 Chinese nationals getting tests for coronavirus.

As of late evening on Friday, it was not yet clear if the Chinese nationals were Philippine offshore gaming operator (Pogo) workers.

Bacani said the NBI was told the Chinese nationals were getting tested as a “pre-employment” requirement.

The NBI, he said, would file charges against the Chinese doctor at the clinic who was conducting the tests and a Filipino apparently serving as his assistant. They would be sued for violating the Food and Drug Administration Act and illegal practice of medicine.
