MANILA, Philippines — Brace for another hot and humid day with chances of rain showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration said Friday.

The ridge of a high pressure area is extending over Northern Luzon while the easterlies or warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean are affecting the weather in the rest of the country, Pagasa weather specialist Ariel Rojas said in a 4 a.m. weather update.

“Sa Luzon kasama na ang Metro Manila, mainit at maalinsangang panahon po ang mararanasan, at sa hapon at sa gabi sa oras po ng uwian ng ating mga manggagawa ay asahan po ang thunderstorms especially sa Central at Northern Luzon,” he said.

The same weather condition will be experienced in Visayas and Mindanao, Rojas said.

“Mas malalakas ang thunderstorms sa dakong Mindanao. Kapag may thunderstorms, may inaasahang malakas na pagbuhos ng ulan, malakas na pag-ihip ng hangin at pagkidlat, pagkulog na posibleng tumagal hanggang dalawang oras o higit pa,” he added.
