Oops! Palace clarifies tricycles still banned on national highways
MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Thursday retracted its earlier statement and clarified that tricycles remain prohibited along national highways.
“Regarding the issue on tricycles/those similarly situated, Interior Secretary Eduardo Ano clarifies that although apprehension from the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) is temporarily suspended, such are still prohibited from traversing the national highways,” presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said in a statement.
During his regular online briefing, Roque said sidecars are allowed on national highways for both areas under general community quarantine (GCQ) and modified GCQ.
“Well nagkaroon na po ng bagong polisiya, pinapayagan na po ngayon ang mga sidecars sa national highways,” Roque earlier said.
