MANILA, Philippines — The government has revised its protocols for the movement of persons under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ), with the elderly and youth told to stay at home.

The exceptions are accessing essential goods and services and going to work, Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said Thursday.

“Now, tungkol naman po sa galaw ng mga tao sa MGCQ kung saan nakasaad sa dating guideline na pinapayagan ang lahat na lumabas sa kanilang mga bahay ay nagkaroon po ng pag-amyenda rito,” Roque said in an online briefing,

“Mananatiling hindi po dapat lumabas sa mga bahay ang mga bata, 21 years old and below at ang ating mga seniors, 60 years old and above subject po doon sa exception na kung kinakailangan for necessities and para magtrabaho,” he added.

(The policy will stay that those 21 years old and below and senior citizens are not allowed to go out except for accessing necessities and going to work.)

Previously, all persons regardless of age and health status were allowed to go out of their homes in areas under MGCQ as long as they wore facial masks and observed physical distancing.

Excluding Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Pangasinan, Albay, Western Visayas, Cebu City, Mandaue City, and Davao City which are all under GCQ, the rest of the country was declared under MGCQ starting June 1.
