12 Manila City Hall employees test positive for coronavirus after rapid testing

MANILA, Philippines — Twelve employees of the Manila City Hall tested positive for the new coronavirus which causes the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) following rapid antibody tests conducted by the city government.

Information released by the Manila Public Information Office on Thursday showed that as of Wednesday, a total of 743 tests have so far been conducted on employees of the Manila City Hall.

Of those who tested positive in the rapid tests, four employees have already gone through confirmatory swab tests, while swab samples have yet to be taken from the remaining eight.

Manila City Hall employees went through rapid testing for the new coronavirus starting on Monday, the first day of the general community quarantine (GCQ) in Metro Manila.

The testing was conducted at the city government employees’ clinic, according to the Manila PIO.

Earlier in May, the Manila City government also started building its own testing facility for the coronavirus disease, in addition to other cities in Metro Manila that have also set-up their own COVID-19 testing facilities.
