Pangasinan town isolates 3 villages after recording first COVID-19 case

DAGUPAN CITY – Three villages of Sta Maria town in eastern Pangasinan have been isolated after the town registered its first coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patient on Thursday (June 4).

Sta. Maria Mayor Julius Ramos locked down the villages of Paitan, Cauplasan and Samon to contain the spread of the virus, but did not provide details about the patient, who was among the residents examined during mass tests conducted there on June 1.

The Sta, Maria infection raises the number of total cases in Pangasinan to 59, which also includes the Alaminos City resident who tested positive for the virus on June 2.

A sitio in Polo village at Alaminos was placed under heavy quarantine by City Mayor Bryan Celeste. The city’s patient first underwent a rapid test and was later confirmed positive through a reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test.
