MANILA, Philippines—The Israeli government has donated medical supplies to the Department of National Defense (DND) for troops on the frontline of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana received the 50,000 pieces of medical gloves, 30,000 pieces of surgical masks and 3,000 pieces of N95 filtered masks on Tuesday (June 2) at the Philippine Air Force headquarters, the DND said in a statement.
The donation also included 4,500 medical gowns, 1,500 pieces of face shields and 100 non-contact thermometers.
Israel’s ambassador to the Philippines Rafael Harpaz handed over the donations to Lorenzana.
Also at the simple turnover ceremony was Defense Undersecretary Ricardo Jalad, administrator of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD); Undersecretary Robert Eric Borje, Office of the President; Gen. Felimon Santos Jr., Armed Forces of the Philippines chief; Lt. Gen. Allen Paredes, Air Force commanding general; Maj. Gen. Greg Almerol, deputy AFP chief for intelligence; Brig. Gen. Oliver R. Artuz, chief of AFP intelligence service and OCD Director Raffy Alejandro.
