Feast of Corpus Christi on June 26

The feast of Corpus Christi (Body of Christ), one of the most important feasts in the liturgical calendar, will be celebrated on June 26.

The celebration will highlight the nine-day Eucharistic celebration, which includes the daily novena Masses at 6 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. that will start on June 17 and culminate with the feast on June 26 at the Chapel of the Adoration Convent of Peace along A. Fortuna Street at the junction of Cebu and Mandaue cities.

This year’s theme is “Holy Eucharist, the Sacrifice of Enduring Love.”

The Solemnity of Corpus Christi on June 26 will start with the 7 a.m. Mass to be celebrated by Rev. Fr. Eduardo Rocha, SVD.

The afternoon schedule includes a solemn Eucharistic celebration with High Mass at 4:30 p.m. to be celebrated by Ricardo Cardinal Vidal and concelebrating priests.

A solemn procession of the Most Blessed Sacrament follows immediately after the Mass with pilgrims, who include priests, religious sisters and brothers, the League of Adorers, Knights of Columbus, Daughters of Mary Immaculate, Catholic Women’s League, various lay and religious organizations, villages, parishes, benefactors and donors.

The Eucharistic Festival is celebrated in honor of the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, our living and life-giving bread.

All faithfuls are invited by the Pink Sisters of the Adoration Convent of Peace to attend the nine-day novena and the celebration of the feast of the Corpus Christi.
