Cops who nabbed 2 COVID-19 suspects to undergo quarantine, rapid testing

MANILA, Philippines — The police officers who nabbed two suspected carriers of coronavirus disease will undergo quarantine and rapid testing for the novel coronavirus which causes the respiratory disease COVID-19, Manila Police District (MPD) said Tuesday.

“Yung 15 pulis natin na nakakuha sa kanila ay sineparate din po natin sila. I-quarantine natin sila,” MPD chief Brig. Gen. Rolando Miranda said in an online press conference of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).

(Our 15 policemen who arrested the suspects, we will separate them; they will be placed under quarantine.)

Miranda said the police officers were from the Intelligence Group and Anti-Illegal Drugs Group of Sta. Ana police station.

“I-isolate ko sila for a while. (We will isolate them for a while.) Two or three days, then we can conduct rapid testing,” he said in a separate interview with dzBB.

Earlier, police arrested two patients who escaped from the quarantine facility in Delpan, Manila. The two patients were also detainees of Sta. Ana police.
