PNP Helpline 16677 received 304 complaints, inquiries since end of May — Banac

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police’s (PNP) Helpline 16677 has so far received and responded to 304 inquiries and complaints during the implementation of the community quarantine in the country.

“The newly-launched PNP Helpline 16677 has handled and acted upon 304 calls coming from different parts of the country,” PNP spokesman Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac said in a statement on Tuesday.

The helpline, which was launched on May 27, aimed at assisting the public with their queries on the protocols imposed during modified general community quarantine (MECQ) and general community quarantine (GCQ).

PNP chief Gen. Archie Gamboa, meanwhile, said the police hotline will ensure quick response to the public’s concerns as the quarantine period continues to take effect.

“The hotline is a quick response mechanism to assure the public that the PNP is ready to assist them at all times through the relevant and timely release of information, guidelines and updated regulations,“ Gamboa said.

Aside from the PNP Helpline, the Joint Task Force (JTF) COVID Shield’s hotline has also addressed 8,102 calls which included complaints and inquiries for quarantine rules.

Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, chief of JTF COVID Shield, said the JTF Operation Center Hotline was launched after the implementation of enhanced community quarantine on March 17.
