2 on list of COVID-19 cash aid beneficiaries fall in drug bust
LUCENA CITY—Police arrested two drug suspects said to be listed as beneficiaries of cash aid for those who lost sources of income in the COVID-19 pandemic, seizing more than P3,000 in shabu, or crystal meth.
Lt. Romulo Albacea, Lucena police chief, said narcs caught fish dealer Wilfredo Hernandez Jr. and tricycle driver Robert Moreno selling meth to an undercover agent at the village of Dalahican past 8 a.m. on Tuesday (June 2).
The suspects were said to be on the list of beneficiaries of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) designed to help daily wage earners and the poor survive lockdowns imposed to prevent coronavirus transmission.
Seized from them were six sachets of meth worth P3,264 on the streets. The suspects are expected to be charged.
