ILIGAN CITY –– Two police personnel were wounded in a grenade attack Monday evening in a checkpoint in Bukidnon province.
Police Colonel Roel L. Lami-ing, Bukidnon police director, said the attack happened around 7:30 p.m. in Cabanglasan town.
Lami-ing said the policemen were conducting a mobile checkpoint when the unidentified perpetrators on board a motorcycle lobbed a hand grenade.
As the policemen fired back, the suspects fled away towards Barangay Mandaing of Cabanglasan, Lami-ing added.
The police personnel who suffered shrapnel wounds are Staff Sergeant Junmark Suico and Patrolman Alvin Claunan, both of the 1st Bukidnon Police Mobile Force Company.
They were rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment.
The Cabanglasan police are now investigating the incident.
