Fight breaks out at MRT station; 3 hurt

Four women, two of them minors, were taken in for questioning by the police after they were accused of ganging up on an old woman and her 13-year-old granddaughter who is a special child before noon Sunday at the Boni Station of the Metro Rail Transit in Mandaluyong City.

One of the victims was Alice Laxa, 60, who suffered a contusion, among other injuries, according to Wilky Lao, a member of the medical team that examined her.

Rolando Palomo, a bystander who witnessed the altercation, said that the elderly woman was not able to fight back because she was protecting her granddaughter.

A police report identified the women who ganged up on Laxa and the child as Marita Santos, 60; Kezia Rodriguez, 25, who also sustained injuries; and two young girls.

Police Officer 1 Junjay Tumbado, one of the policemen assigned to the MRT station said trouble broke out as both parties were waiting to board the elevator at the MRT station.

“One group accused the other of cutting in line and then a fight broke out,” he added.
