MANILA, Philippines— Former model Avi Siwa was arrested on Friday afternoon for selling new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) rapid test kits worth P70,000 without authorization from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation International Operations Division arrested Siwa in an entrapment operation in Intramuros, Manila.
Based on the FDA advisories, test kits, which are strictly for medical use only, “should be strictly distributed to appropriate establishments or institutions.”
