DOH warns against seeking COVID-19 treatment in illegal Chinese clinics

MANILA, Philippines — Amid the recent raids of illegal Chinese clinics treating COVID-19 patients, the Department of Health (DOH) warns the public against seeking treatment in unauthorized medical facilities for patients with the coronavirus disease.

“DOH continues to reiterate that the public should only seek treatment from licensed health facilities from licensed physicians and healthcare workers, using FDA approved medications and medical devices. Doing otherwise might result in harm,” the DOH said in a statement on Saturday.

The DOH said it was coordinating with proper authorities to address illegal Chinese hospitals.

“Likewise we continue to do contact tracing for all COVID-19 patients and are working with the proper authorities to address these clandestine hospitals,” the DOH said.

This May, two underground clinics were unveiled in separate raids in Makati City and Pampanga. In April, the Parañaque police and city government also spotted an illegal COVID-19 clinic treating Chinese patients.
