PUERTO PRINCESA CITY – A fisherman from Palawan who was rescued in the waters of Vietnam over three months ago has returned home Thursday night.
Lemuel Mante of the Narra, Palawan Mayor’s Office, confirmed on Friday that Joseph Troyo, a 29-year-old resident, arrived at the Puerto Princesa International Airport (PPIA) l together with repatriated overseas Filipino workers (OFW).
“He’s already at the house of his sibling in Purok Uliran, Barangay Panacan,” Mante said.
Troyo will be placed on a strict 14-day home quarantine, according to Mante.
Troyo was rescued by Vietnamese maritime authorities off the southern coast of Vietnam on February 23 after his fishing vessel capsized.
He went on a fishing trip in the West Philippine Sea on January 20 with two other fishermen, Macario Bernal and Roger Badayos, who are still missing.
He arrived in Manila on April 18 through the coordination with Yagi Olaguera, Philippine vice-consul to Vietnam.
