DIGOS CITY –– The Davao City government rewarded with some 10,000 chicken meal packages the residents of five administrative districts that have few coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases.
Mayor Sara Duterte first announced the reward on April 22 as an incentive for community folk to strictly observe the quarantine protocols imposed by the government to stem the spread of the coronavirus.
At that time, the city experienced a surge in COVID-19 cases, ranking among the top 10 localities in the country with the most number of infections.
On Friday, Duterte announced that five of the city’s 11 administrative districts are eligible for the reward, namely, Baguio, Calinan, Tugbok, Toril, and Marilog.
Each district will get 2,000 chicken meal packages.
Duterte hoped there would no longer be additional infections in the areas.
As of May 28, the city has 253 cases, of which 117 had recovered, while 24 had died.
The city government has also classified its 182 barangays into levels of risk, advising residents not to venture into areas classified as “high risk” and “very high risk,” except when necessary.
As of Friday, eight barangays were listed as “very high risk” areas, namely, 22-C, 23-C, Agdao Proper, Bucana, Buhangin Proper, Cabantian, Leon Garcia, and Talomo Proper.
Another seven barangays are listed as “high risk” areas, namely, 5-A, 19-B, Catalunan Grande, Maa, Matina Crossing, Tigatto, and Ubalde.
