MANILA, Philippines — The Twitter account of PLDT’s customer service was hacked – its handle altered from “PLDT_Cares” to “PLDT Doesn’t Care” on Thursday.
Even Globe Telecom (@enjoyGLOBE) was tagged in a subsequent tweet that also noted, “#PLDTHacked.” Globe was warned: “You’re next.”
“As the pandemic arises, Filipinos need fast internet to communicate with their loved ones. Do your job. The corrupt fear us, the honest support us, the heroic join us. We are Anonymous. We are Legion. We do not forgive. We do not forget. Expect us,” the hacked account initially tweeted at 12:34 p.m.
The account appears to have been recovered past 2 p.m., with the account name returned to “PLDT_Cares” and the hackers’ tweets deleted.
A day before the hacking incident, PLDT urged its customers to secure their WiFi networks from unknown users.
“Change your WiFi name and password to prevent others from accessing your connection without your permission,” the telecommunications and digital service provider tweeted Wednesday.
