Bicol to transition to MCQ on June 1-15; Albay to remain under GCQ

LEGAZPI CITY –– Bicol provinces, except Albay, has been reclassified on Thursday to transition to modified general community quarantine (MCQ) from general community quarantine (GCQ) status by the National Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (NIATF).

NIATF resolution No. 40 says that starting June 1 to 15, those considered under low-risk provinces category in the Luzon area would be placed under MGCQ.

These include regions under the Cordillera Administrative Region, Region I, MIMAROPA, and Bicol, including the cities of Masbate, Sorsogon, Legazpi, and Naga.

Meanwhile, Albay province has retained its GCQ status like Baguio City, Pangasinan, Cagayan Valley, some areas in Central Luzon, and Southern Luzon provinces.

The National Capital Region and the town of Pateros, which was categorized as “high-to-moderate risk for COVID, was classified as GCQ.”

Cebu City, which was classified as a high-risk area, was placed under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ).

The classification of the quarantine status was based on the recommendation of the IATF Sub-Technical Working Group on Data Analytics.
