Girls from Metro Manila struck down by lightning in Pangasinan

DAGUPAN CITY—Two teenage girls died after they were struck by lightning on Tuesday (May 26) as they played in the rain at the village of Aseda in Mapandan town.

Maria Veronica Ligtas, 16, a resident of Tondo in Manila, and Marilyn Rutur, 15, a Caloocan City resident, were rushed to the Mapandan Community Hospital but were declared dead there.

Police could not say yet why the girls were in Pangasinan during the lockdown fo COVID-19.
