LUCENA CITY –– Four more confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases have been recorded in Quezon province.

In an emergency bulletin issued at 8 p.m. Tuesday, the Quezon provincial information office (QPIO) reported that Lucena, the capital city of the province, logged three virus carriers.

On Wednesday morning, the QPIO revealed that another new COVID-19 patient was recorded in Guinyangan town.

With the latest report, Quezon province has recorded 89 COVID-19 cases – the lowest in the Calabarzon region – with 66 recoveries and eight deaths.

The province remains to have 15 active virus carriers, all confined in a hospital.

More test results were expected in the coming days after the province’s first “biosafety level 2 plus” (BSL-2+) molecular diagnostic laboratory located in this city started operation last week.

The Lucena public information office traced the new patients to Barangay Gulang-Gulang and Domoit.

Local authorities were monitoring 56 suspected COVID-19 carriers, who were confined in different hospitals in Quezon, and 52 others on home quarantine, records from the Integrated Provincial Health Office, which covers April 14 to May 24, showed.
