MANILA, Philippines — The Greenhills Shopping Center, a retail destination in San Juan City, will cut down a “big number” of its market stalls to ensure physical distancing as the country transitions into the new normal in view of the coronavirus disease pandemic, City Mayor Francis Zamora said on Tuesday.
“With regard to the tiangge, they cut a big number from the existing tiangge so that physical distancing can be achieved from one stall to another,” Zamora said over ANC when asked about adjustments in the protocol in Greenhills during the “new normal.”
Zamora announced in a tweet on Monday said during his ocular inspection at the shopping mall, the establishment will put up spaces between stalls and a “one-way walk flow” marker for social distancing. He also announced that other markets in the mall are set to open in June this year.

The mayor also noted that some establishments in the mall, such as fast-food chains and drugstores, defined the total number of allowable customers.
Aside from this, Zamora said the shopping center, which has over 2,000 markets before COVID-19, will have a security office that would make sure that customers and vendors are compliant to minimum health standards.
“They will be setting up a security office who will be ensuring people’s compliance, (and) of course vendors’ compliance to all these protocols,” he said.
