Rains cause widespread floods in Davao del Norte

DAVAO CITY, Philippines—Continuous rains in the last few days have caused  floods in the towns  of Laak, Asuncion, New Corella, and Kapalong in Davao Del Norte, the Civil and Military Operations Battalion of the 10th Infantry Division reported Saturday.

Major Jacob Obligado, the battalion commander, said the national road to Laak and San Isidro from Asuncion was submerged in up to three feet of water. Asuncion was is still without power on Saturday, he added.

Obligado said the 10th Infantry Division’s disaster relief and rescue units have been coordinating with the municipal disaster risk reduction and management council for possible rescue and evacuation action.
