About 680k families in Manila to get 2nd tranche of P1k cash aid
MANILA, Philippines — More than 680,000 families in Manila will get the second round of P1,000 cash aid to assist them during the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the city government said Thursday.
The Manila Public Information Office said they had an initial tally of over 607,000 beneficiaries of City Amelioration Crisis Assistance Fund (CACAF).
But 896 barangay city officials updated their list, which increased CACAF recipients to more than 680,000 families.
Over 500,000 families in the capital city received the first tranche of the city cash subsidy for families bearing the brunt of the COVID-19.
Aside from cash subsidies for families, the city government also distributed food and rice subsidies for COVID-19 victims in the city.
Financial assistance were also given to senior citizens, solo parents, persons with disabilities and students at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila and the Universidad de Manila.
As of May 20, Wednesday night, Manila posted 855 COVID-19 cases including 91 fatalities and 172 recoveries.
