Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez warned residents found positive for the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) to cooperate with health authorities and follow quarantine protocols, lest they get evicted from their houses and moved to a hospital outside the city.
“Once the COVID-19 patient is brought to a private hospital outside of the city, his relative will shoulder the medical expenses and not the city government,” he said, noting that the number of confirmed cases in Parañaque was increasing by the day “dahil maraming pasaway (there are many hardheaded people).”
In a statement on Tuesday, Olivarez expressed frustration over reports that “several” COVID-19 patients under home quarantine in Barangays San Antonio, San Dionisio and Baclaran went malling on Monday.
The three areas have the highest number of confirmed cases in the city. San Dionisio has 53 cases compared to San Antonio’s 23 and Baclaran’s 28. INQ
