Cops nab alleged ‘most wanted’ rebel in Zambales

SAN ANTONIO, ZAMBALES –– A woman considered to be the most wanted person in Zambales province for being a communist rebel leader was arrested in Masinloc town on Monday, police said.

Darlene Jane Mon was collared in Sitio (sub-village) Mandaloy in Barangay Taltal on the strength of arrest warrants issued by a local court for charges of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and arson.

Police Col. Ponce Rogelio Peñones Jr., Zambales police director, said Mon is a medic and supply officer of the New People’s Army under the Alvarez Peralta Command Zambales Platun.

The judge set a P100,000 bail for Mon’s attempted murder cases, but no bail was recommended for her murder and arson charges.
