MANILA, Philippines – Vice President Leni Robredo has paid a visit to Kamuning Market to check the implementation of the Community Mart program initiated by her office and the Quezon City local government.
Photos from the Office of the Vice President (OVP) showed Robredo checking the program on Sunday, where people may purchase goods like fruits, vegetables, meats, through an application, without going to the shops themselves.
The goods would then be delivered to their homes, helping small market owners and tricycle drivers who were affected by the work suspension when Luzon and other areas were under an enhanced community quarantine due to COVID-19.
Aside from Kamuning, there are other barangays in Quezon City would be part of the pilot run, including Mariana, Obrero, Sacred Heart, Laging Handa, Pinagkaisahan, South Triangle, Paligsahan, and Roxas District.

The Community Mart application is seen to minimize the influx of people in groceries and wet markets and avoid localized transmission, amid a modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) over Metro Manila.
As of Monday, the Department of Health says that there are now 12,718 COVID-19 cases, with 831 casualties and 2,729 recoveries. Worldwide, over 4.724 million persons have been infected, 315,423 of whom have died while 1.737 million have recovered.
