Quezon town’s 2nd COVID-19 patient is another 2-year-old boy

LUCENA CITY—A second two-year-old boy tested positive for coronavirus in the town of Buenavista, Quezon province.

The case was confirmed by the Buenavista Rural Health Unit on its Facebook page on Sunday (May 17). The boy, said the health unit, was suffering from fever and cough when taken to a hospital in the town of Lopez on May 10.

It said the boy and his close contacts had no travel history in infected places.

The positive result of tests made on the boy, who is in stable condition, came out on May 16. He is now confined in a hospital in Lopez.

Lopez has six COVID-19 cases though two had already recovered.

The first COVID-19 patient in Buenavista was also a two-year-old boy, according to the health unit’s record on May 10. He was then the youngest patient in Quezon province.

In an 8 a.m. report on Monday, the Quezon Public Information Office said the province now has 81 COVID-19 cases. At least 53 of these patients had recovered while eight died.

The province has 79 suspected cases in hospitals and 109 on home quarantine.
