COVID-19 infections in Nueva Ecija rise to 52

CABANATUAN CITY — The number of confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infections in Nueva Ecija rose to 52 after four more patients tested positive over the weekend, according to the provincial inter-agency task force (NEIATF).

On Saturday, May 16, two medical frontliners from Bataan and an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) from the United Arab Emirates were among four new confirmed cases as disclosed by the IATF.

Patient 48 is a 24-year-old woman from Barangay (village) Bangad here who served as medical technologist at Bataan General and Medical Center.

Patient 49, a 25-year-old woman from Mabini Homesite, is a doctor at Ospital ng Maynila.

Patient 50, a 30-year-old man, of Pulong Buli village in Santo Domingo town, is a fireman who worked at the National Capital Region, while Patient 51 is a 34-year-old woman from Manggang Marikit village in Guimba town who was repatriated from UAE on April 24.

Fr. Arnold Abelardo, spokesperson of the NEIATF, clarified that all four were recorded as Nueva Ecija patients only because of their address. They are now undergoing treatment outside Nueva Ecija.

The NEIATF also reported on Sunday that a 75-year-old-woman from Aliaga town who tested positive was discharged from the ELJ Hospital here and placed under strict home quarantine. She was identified only as Patient 52.

Meanwhile, Nueva Ecija has recorded 42 recoveries from COVID 19 as of May 17, the NEIATF reported.
