Pogos form task force vs Nogos
MANILA, Philippines —Service providers of Philippine offshore gaming operators (Pogos) have created a task force that would target illegally operating online gaming firms in the country to “weed out the industry of undesirables.”
In a statement, Margarita Gutierrez, spokesperson for the Accredited Service Providers of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Aspap), said Task Force Nogos (nonregistered offshore gaming operators) was created after police apprehended foreign nationals allegedly engaged in illegal online activities.
“We will not sit idly by while our authorities do the work to end illegal online gaming. Aspap is forming a task force that will actively support the government’s campaign against illegals,” Gutierrez said.
The task force will be assigned in intelligence gathering to bring down Nogos and coordinate with law enforcers and concerned agencies, she added.
Last week, 265 Chinese nationals were arrested in an illegal offshore gaming operation in Las Piñas City, weeks after a similar facility was shut down in Makati City.
