Naga village under ‘total lockdown’ until May 30 after nurse tests positive for COVID-19

NAGA CITY — A “total lockdown” was enforced in San Francisco village in this city that started Saturday night, May 16, and will end May 30 after a resident tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

This as the city, along with other areas in Luzon, was transitioning to General Community Quarantine (GCQ) status from the stricter Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).

Naga City Mayor Nelson Legacion enforced the total lockdown in the village Saturday night after a patient, a 32-year-old female nurse working at the Camarines Sur Provincial Health Office, became the seventh confirmed COVID-19 case in Naga City and the 67th case in Bicol region.

“I recieved from Dr. Ernie Vera, Department of Health (DOH) Bicol Regional Director, that patient with local code Bikol #67 has tested postive for the virus,” Legacion said.

Legacion also said the patient was asymptomatic and had no travel history but had exposure with a COVID-19 patient tagged Bikol #60.

“She (Bikol #67) was under quarantine since May 12 in the facility controlled by the provincial government of Camarines Sur,” Legacion said.

The total lockdown in San Francisco meant no one is allowed in and out of the village until May 30 or 14 days since the health worker’s test result came back positive on Saturday, information from Naga City’s Incident Management Team (IMT) for COVID-19 said.

“The immediate members of her family were already brought to the city controlled facility and movement restrictions had been imposed in the concerned community in San Francisco,” Legacion added.

Bicol #67’s family members will undergo six days of isolation before taking a rapid anti-body test, the Naga City IMT said.

The total number of health workers infected in Bicol according to DOH is now at 23.
