MANILA, Philippines—Three generals and four senior officers holding key posts in the military are among the first batch of officers in the Armed Forces of the Philippines to be promoted in 2012, a military spokesman said Friday.
Colonel Arnulfo Marcelo Burgos Jr. said Brigadier Generals Raoul Reyes, Roy Deveraturda and Rey Ardo were promoted to the rank of Major General.
Reyes is the current Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel, J1, Deveraturda holds the position of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Plans, J5, and Ardo is the current Commander of the Philippine Army’s 6th Infantry Division.
Senior officers promoted to Brigadier General include Colonels Herbert Yambing, Romeo Taguinod, and Emeraldo C. Magnaye. Captain Abraham Celzo was promoted to the rank of Commodore.
Yambing is currently the AFP Provost Marshal General, Taguinod is Internal Auditor of the Philippine Air Force, while Magnaye is the current Wing Commander of the 530th Air Base Wing. Celzo is the Commander of the Naval Forces, Southern Luzon.
“The new stars on (their) shoulders are not merely symbols of authority. They also represent more responsibilities, expectations, and demands that (they) must fulfil in serving (their) duties to (our) country,” Burgos said, quoting AFP Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Jessie Dellosa.
