Severe Tropical Storm Ambo brings waves, strong winds near Manila Bay area
MANILA, Philippines – Strong winds brought by Severe Tropical Storm Ambo has caused giant waves to pound the areas near the Manila Bay, as documented by the Manila Public Information Office (MPIO).
Tweets from MPIO on Friday showed the shores of Isla Puting Bato in Tondo, and the Manila Bay along Roxas Boulevard getting battered by the storm.

Despite the strong winds, MPIO said that their Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office has not reported any incidents of flooding within the city.
Article continues after this advertisement“In Manila, the city’s Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office is continuing to monitor in several flood-prone areas across the nation’s capital. So far, no flooding incident was reported by the @ManilaDRRMO during its continuous monitoring,” MPIO said.

“The Manila City government is reminding the public to remain at home and to stay safe during this inclement weather,” they added.
Latest forecast from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Service Administration showed that Ambo has slightly weakened after making landfall, now packing maximum sustained winds of 100 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 140 kph.
It was last seen 40 kilometers south of Infanta, Quezon, moving northwestward at a speed of 20 kph.
